My First Week on Medium
and what I have learned in my short time
A week goes by very quickly. But it is also a bit of a milestone for some things. For me, its been a week since i started posting to this platform. So far I have been quite overwhelmed with the support of the community and I even have 48 followers now!
In terms of stats, Its been interesting to see what has stuck and what hasn't. Having only been a week, it’s fair to assume that my worst performing posts have been performing badly due to simply not being seen yet.
My best performing so far is a post I wrote the other day while i was still wide awake at silly o clock in the morning. It was more a conversation with myself which i hoped would resonate with others and it truly seemed to! over 500 claps which was very heart-warming to say the least. You can check it out below:

Now, the reason my best perfoming post did as well as it did is largely down to my efforts to get it seen. I had joined a few Medium groups on Facebook based on some of the recommendations made by in his post below:
Even if some people will just exchange claps for claps, the majority of people on these groups are incredibly friendly and really keen to see what you have to offer. I also discovered many great pieces of work! I highly recommend joining up if you haven’t already.
Now, i cant deny i was a little disappointed to see my “Recommended” feed absolutely rammed with articles about how you can make $6000 on one article by following these “simple steps” but honestly? I can ignore them pretty easily. There's so much high quality content on here, its absolutely worth digging around…
…Plus, there is the “Following” tab which is infinitely better anyway! I follow people for a reason. If I want my work to be consistently read, I need to consistently read the works of the community i have decided to be a part of.
To be honest I haven't got a great deal to say in this post, it was more to highlight my week on Medium so far. It has been pleasant, it has helped me declutter my brain a lot and I have learned a great deal already. For some who has loved writing since I could first hold a pen, I sure jumped onboard this ship quite late hey?
